We finally finished all eight raised planters for the garden. J did so much work building, then filling each one with dirt and compost. The other day Ry planted sugar peas and shelling peas. There's just one more bed to plant.
I love that the columbines have reseeded themselves wherever they please. They grow in gravelly spots, and under the apple trees.

It's been so hot and dry, watering twice a day doesn't seem like enough sometimes! Some of my cultivated-from-seed tomatoes and jalapenos didn't make it, and we had to go buy more plants.
One morning Ryan was assigned to water the garden and came up with the strategy of setting the sprinkler in the center pathway. Perfect sprinkly watering, with no effort or drowning effect!
Now we wait for the beans, peas, carrots, beets, cauliflower, celery, broccoli, et al to sprout. When we catch our breath, we will fill a big truck with shredded tree mulch from the city to spread on all the pathways. More work, but it will look so nice!
