Blessed with fresh backyard apples as we are, there had to be at least one pie-making session for the season! I found a mouth watering pie crust recipe on Simply Recipes. (I wouldn't even bother checking the calorie count, as it's made with butter and sour cream!)
The recipe made one covered pie, but I divided it to make two bottom crust only pies since I had so many apples. I made an oatmeal crumble topping for one of them and used the dough scraps to make a very imperfect lattice pattern topping for the other.
Hands down the best pie crust ever!
