With all these lovely empty bottles in my new wine cave laboratory, I was anxious to get started on our homemade wine.

I decided to keep a logbook, since I'm just learning as I go and I might want to repeat successes and not make the same mistakes twice, when they happen.

My little vintner's apprentice, practicing his corking skills!

The beginnings of Sweet Cherry Wine, vintage 2014!  The yeast has been added to the Primary container, the cherries are inside the DIY cheesecloth you see in the photo.  Now I need to stir every day until it reaches the right alcohol level.  I'm following the recipe one small step at a time.  Now that's got to be a first!
